The Ministry Energy, Manpower and Industry and its departments held Dikir Maulud in conjunction with the Mulidur Rasul at the Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque on 9th November 2018. Present at the ceremony was Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr. Awang Haji Mat Suny Bin Haji Mohd. Hussein, Minister of Energy, Manpower and Industry.

Hussein, Minister of Energy, Manpower and Industry held an engagement session with over 40 Bruneians working at the Brunei LNG Sdn Bhd (BLNG) at the BLNG Main Building. The annual ASEAN Ministers on Energy Meeting held its 36th session on 29 to 30 October 2018 in Singapore. Themed "Transforming Energy: Invest, Innovate and Integrate", the meeting was chaired by His Excellency Mr. Chan Chun Sing, Minister of Energy and Industry of Singapore with vice chair, His Excellency Dr. Siri Jirapongphan, Minister of Energy of Thailand. Other related meetings that took place were the 15th ASEAN Ministers on Energy Meeting Plus Three (AMEM+3) and the 12th East Asia Summit Energy Ministers Meeting (EAS EMM).
An innovative and revolutionary solution for off-grid electricity turned global attention to Brunei Darussalam as it took the centre stage at the 36th ASEAN Ministers on Energy Meeting (AMEM) Gala Dinner by winning the ASEAN Energy Awards 2018 under the Renewable Energy (RE) project competition. Brunei Darussalam won first place under 'Off-Grid' category with a project titled "2 kWp Off-grid Solar PV System in Labi, Ulu-Belait, Brunei Darussalam", while Thailand won 2nd and 3rd place under the same category.
An inaugural Hydrogen Energy Ministerial Meeting was held on 23 October 2018 in Tokyo, Japan which brought together 20 countries, including Brunei Darussalam to promote cooperation on research, development and deployment of hydrogen technologies within their societies. Together, the meeting shared views on hydrogen's potential as a key contributor to the energy transitions underway to a clean energy future and an important component of a broad-based, secure, sustainable and efficient energy portfolio.
Yang Berhormat Dato Dr Awang Hj Mat Suny bin Haji Md Hussein, Minister of Energy, Manpower and Industry spoke at the LNG Producer-Consumer Conference 2018 organised by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) of Japan and the Asia Pacific Energy Research Council (APERC) in Nagoya, Japan on 22 October 2018. Also in attendance was Yang Mulia Awang Haji Azhar bin Haji Yahya, Permanent Secretary (Energy), Ministry of Energy, Manpower and Industry.
The Ministry of Energy, Manpower and Industry (MEMI) and its Department held a Healthy Lifestyle Programme: Trekking and Plogging Activity on Wednesday, 19th September 2018 at Tasek Lama Recreational Park. The activity was led by Yang Mulia Dato Seri Paduka Haji Matsatejo bin Sokiaw, Deputy Minister of Energy, Manpower and Industry.
The Ministry of Energy, Manpower and Industry (MEMI) and the Department of Electrical Services (DES) held a Korban Ceremony in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidil Adha for the year 1439 Hijrah / 2018 Masehi on 11th Zulhijjah 1439 / 23rd August 2018 at the Multipurpose Hall, Bahirah Building. The event was organised by the Department of Electrical Services. The event was attended by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr. Haji Mat Suny bin Haji Mohd Hussein, Minister of Energy, Manpower and Industry as the Guest of Honour.
