SME Standards Advisory Unit

This unit offers assistance for MSME’s in ensuring their systems and products are in compliance required for export and to meet the industries requirements in terms of productivity and to add values through the adoptions of standards and conformance. This will reassure the consumers that the products are safe and have the upmost quality.

  2. Standards Training Facilitation –  GMP, HACCP, ISO, etc.

  • Training for Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) : one (1) to three(3) days
  • Training for Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) : two(2) to three(3)days
  • ISO 22000:2005 (Food Safety Management Systems) : two(2) to three (3) days

Standard Development Section (SDS)

Standard Development Section (SDS) role is to facilitate and coordinate the development of national and international standards requirements and to strengthen the usage of PBD across the government and private sector by means of coordination, facilitation, publication and promotion. This unit also involves in research and development and act as the focal point on the trade facilitation initiatives on the work of standards and conformance policy.

Services offered

1.       PBD Development  Manual – Assisting government agencies and their private stakeholders in developing standards in accordance to their respective fields.

2.       Global Standard One (GS1) –Application of product barcodes for MSMEs in order to widen their market access.

TPOR for application process

  1. Standards Development Process - Minimum number of months to develop one national standard is 12 months – 2 years (includes the 2 months period of Public Comment)
  2. Global Standard One (GS1) – Can be done in one (1) day except if there is technical problem from the main headquarters, Belgium.

Standards Reference Library

Standards Reference Library (SRL) is a one stop Information Service Center for Standards and Quality Management Resources. SRL services are aimed to provide information on international and national standards. This library is open to the public. All the standards and materials are for the purpose of REFERENCE ONLY and some of these materials especially on Brunei Darussalam Standards (Piawai Brunei Darussalam, PBD) can be found and purchased at National Standards Centre.
