More than 100 exhibitors comprising of companies and government agencies are expected to participate in BruHAS 2019 that will be held from 11th to 15th November 2019 at BRIDEX Hall 2, Jerudong. Organized by the Ministry of Energy, Manpower and Industry in collaboration with Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) with the support of its strategic partners including the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MORA), the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism (MPRT), the Ministry of Health (MOH) as its strategic partners. The event will be also be supported by Darussalam Enterprise (DARe) and Laksamana College of Business (LCB).
The BruHAS 2019 is the biggest Brunei Halal Showcase that aims to link the Halal sector as well as the relevant government agencies with industry players, academia and entrepreneurs by sharing the latest academic findings and industry's best practices, while providing a platform for Halal Industry entrepreneurs to showcase Halal products and services.
The state of the Global Islamic Economy Report 2018/2019, has projected that the potential size of the Muslim market will reach USD 3 trillion by 2022, indicating a strong demand for halal products and services in the global market. The 1.6 Muslims population around the world has brought new opportunities, as halal products are certified and traded in the regional and international level. This poses a huge opportunity for Brunei local MSMEs to tap into the halal market.
Leveraging on this figure, BruHAS 2019 will feature Halal products and services expo, 4th International Seminar on Halalan Thayyiban Products and Services (SAPPHAT IV), which includes BruHAS Forum, BruHAS clinic, and also Business Matching sessions as a part of a continuous effort to provide support to local businesses to market their product and services, while providing open business networks and collaborations with local and international halal players. This event will also help to entice public to tap into Halal industry, and understand all the avenues available.
SAPPHAT IV, which is organized by UNISSA will be taking place on 11th and 12th November 2019 which will be participated by local and international academia. A BruHAS Forum will also be held as part of SAPPHAT IV. Themed "Enhancing Halal Hub Sustainibility through Halalan Thayyiban Products and Services, the forum aims to enhance understanding on Halalan Thayyiban products and services.
The BruHAS clinic, which will be held on Thursday serves as a patform to address queries from the public and local/international businesses regarding Halal industry including Halal permit and certification, packaging and food safety. Agencies supporting the BruHAS clinic includes the Food Safety and Quality Control Division and Department of Scientific Services from the Ministry of Health, Halal Food Control Division from the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Department of Agriculture and Agrifood from the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism and Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA).
Held for the third time, BruHAS is a collaboration between the Ministry and UNISSA in raising awareness on the development of halal industry and its contribution to the nation's economy. Last year, BruHAS 2018 has attracted more than 10,000 visitors.
